I'm a bass-head too! Single JBL W15GTi, 15" in mine.

go with 3 10's :-)

what kind of car do you have? vert, coupe or frc? you could mount the subs where the partitions usually go if you have an frc, that would be heart stopping bass. i have one 12 in my vert and with the top up and when listening to some music i can feel the air rush by me. 2 would be scary

oh and check out the pioneer premier 12" subs. they have gotten amazing reviews (not just a cheap sub that is good.... but an amazing sub that is cheap) they are thirsty for power so you better be prepared to pump them full of juice.

i've currently got a 4runner with 2 jl 12w3's in a ported box.... they blow the heat back into the vents..

i'm starting to look at a c5 as a new daily driver, and would want to put my sound system in it, so i was just wondering if anyone else had done it. i'm leaning towards the hatchback version (is that the frc?) but wouldn't mind the coupe or vert either...

FRC= Fixed Roof. Coupe= Hatchback

Most quality 12" woofers will want to see at least 1.0 cubic foot of internal box volume for a sealed box. Which in some cases means that the box must be built a little taller to get the volume. You can also reverse load the woofer (magnet side up) to gain some cubic inches.

it'd be saddest looking garage queen at that...

i'm gonna keep the 4runner (since it's paid for ) and use it as a dog hauler. the wife doesn't like getting her van dirty, and i also use it to pull a utility trailer.

never had a sports car, or anything quick for that matter. so i'm just trying to figure out if i'm gonna go for a c5 or an rt10. can't afford a gts, srt10, or c6, so those are the options i'm looking at.

thanks for the info!

that's beautiful! i saw your other post on painting the amps and took some notes on that...

did you build the box yourself? if so, any tips on working with the fiberglass (i'm assuming it is) or websites with good info on that?

that right there is a prime example of why i'm most leaning towards a coupe.

nikolam thank's for the PROP's here is a link to another post I have been running http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...85&forum_id=20
Yes I did build this box myself I will post a few pic. here for you...
My deal is that I had to be able to get the coupe top back in it's mount's. This car being my wifes wedding present she was making the rules that I have to live with..

First I took the back apart and used DYNOMAT on everything then put it back togther so I could use two inch masking tape to seal the carpet from the duck tape. The ducktape was used to make a seal so the fiberglass would not get to the masking tape.

Three molds were pulled from the floor. Are we having fun yet???? he he

Then the top have was made. all 3/4 MDF

I had to keep checking to make sure this dam top will fit back there....

Then the top gets covered with fleis.

Then a coating of glass, dermat and bondo

Then I had to check the air....I needed 3.75 cube...Four my 3 W-6's so I used the guts from a bean bag to find the volume of all the peices. Once I had the air right all the peices were glued together and covered.
I hope you understand this is a very breif discription of what is involved with a project of this magnatude. Please feel free to ask any questions you want I will try my best to give you my veiw... I have about 200 pic. of this build so far...Let my no what you would like to see...Good luck if you go in.....

i do have one quick question on the build...

how many layers of fiberglass is needed to make the walls the proper thickness? i heard 10 or 12 layers before... but the guys that told me this weren't the greatest of installers either..

It depends on how long and straight your walls are...
I used 4/5 layers but I had no long runs in my box. I just used the push test.... I.E. let it dry then push on it and look for flex... I also slurred the inside to fill gaps and add strength..
sorry about the double hit on my last post...

That setup is sweet

I too had the same requirements, three 12"s with the ability to store the top. I also had to squeeze in three amps and two CD changers

Since you did such a fabulous job of painting the amps, did you ever consider getting grills for the woofers and painting them yellow? I think that would take an awesome install one step futher.

The duct tape was nuts no doubt........but it was needed for sure the wife would not deal with glass on her carpet......The grills will happen for sure.,...you guy's rock........knewblewkorvette what amp's are you using???? They must be smaller than my PPI's to make the whole deal fit...

two JBL 80.4s and one JBL 1200.1.
I'm thinking of pulling those out to use in one of my Talons but I reluctant to do it because of all the work involved in redoing all that fiberglass.
