My '99 Coupe has the factory 12 disc Pioneer CD player now. I would like to swap this player with one that also plays MP3 files loaded onto a CD via computer (itunes), this is how I presently make my CD's using wave files. But I am only interested in doing this if it can be done with an adapter added onto the factory harness plug back where the CD player is mounted or if I have to from the Pass. kick panel up front where the factory harness plugs in. I do not want to use an adapter that hooks up to the radio in the dash, I do not want to disturb the dash. I have read the FAQ sticky, do not want to do the "splice" and have both units hooked up, do not want to use an Ipod. Just looking for an easy unit swap at the rear. Any suggestions on how this can be done and with who's hardware?
Thanks, I'll start looking; I wonder if the plug will be the same. I was hoping to hook up a Sony or Peripheral - the will play MP3's, just need to hook 'em up. Maybe a forum member will know how to splice it in to the factory plug so the dash unit controls will work.
One of the more popular ones is the Peripheral iPod2car. Plugs right into the changer cable in the rear of the Vette. I replaced my junk Delco-Bose a few weeks ago. Bought the iPod2car on eBay, came with the interface cable that goes between the iPod2car and the changer cable.
