Default Decent 8" subs ?

Gonna go to this setup.

Pioneer DEH-P77DH CD Player head unit, cause I want the 1-1/2 din HU

Front = two 6.5" Infinfity Kappa, 3-way powered by 2 x 75 PHOENIX GOLD Octane-R 4.0:2 2

Rear= two 8" subs powered buy 2 x 150 watt Jensen amp that I already have. Will probably replace this later but I think it is OK for a sub amp

Now what 8" sub should I get that does not break the bank? I like the JL's but waay to pricey for me.

Lets say I have a max of $150 for a pair of subs and I usually listen to Jazz, 70's - 80's rock, Steely Dan

I would look in to a couple of these

http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-Arc-Audio-8-...QQcmdZViewItem

Or maybe a couple of these
http://cgi.ebay.com/2-KICKER-05-CVR8...QQcmdZViewItem

The arc audio subs are produced, well we will call it in a "very similar fashion" to the Image Dynamics IDQ line which is a well respected and very accurate and musical sub.

Given your price point I know where I would spend my money

I'm using two Image Dynamics 8's and they sound great. Good for small spaces and nice and tight.

Looks good guys, I will give them a try!

I hope this works, a few guys have said that the 8" subs in the rears with only two fronts are a nice setup.

I guess I could go with a pair of tweeters in the dash if it's necessary but I have high hopes that this will all work out well.

Looks like the budget got bumped to $200 for subs

Here's what I'm installing . . . eventually. Right now they're just sitting on the shelf again until I finish my other project.

I've always loved Polk, extremely clean with a good amp.

Nice, it looks like $200 will give me some options.

Also, I wil likely upgrade my 6.5 door speakers this summer, with some MB Quart speakers if the rear sounds as good as I hope. I will then pull the carpet and sound deaden the entire car and I will do the inside of the doors at that time.

Too many projects right now, put a new clutch in @ 1 week ago , then a new rack and pinion yesterday too.

I have those in a sealed box in my Saabaru with only 70 watts each, they rock. Though mine are branded ARC Audio 8. (Same manufacturer, similar subs)

Nice. I couldn't be happier with mine. Most people that hear them can't believe they are "only" 8 inch. I'm running around 400 watts to a pair of them and they more than keep up with my CDT comp set and upstage set in front.

Image Dynamics 8v.3 subs. Less than $100 each. Great subs and even better for the price. I'd upgrade that Jensen amp to at least a PG octane like you are running for your comps.

For sure! The Jensen is a low end deal, I have had it laying around for a while.

I also have an old Eclipse 4x50 watt that I might be able to use in its place. This dude is OLD!
