I think I've finally decided on a head unit for my system. I'd like to get the Eclipse 8455 if I can find it at a good price. It's a 2005 model and the '06 are coming out so I'm hoping to find a deal somewhere.
Eclipse only authorizes Crutchfield and Car Toys as internet sellers and neither one carries that model. I checked ebay and only found one guy selling a used one. I know lots of other car audio companies have limited or no authorized online sellers, but usually you can find places selling their stuff without the factory warranty for cheap.
Anyone know of a good place to get Eclipse head units? I'm gonna start calling around to the local retailers, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone here had some leads. Thanks.
Check with Marv at mrmarvsplace@yahoo.com. I bought my 8053 from him brand new in box (has not been made in 2 years). I am not sure he can get that deck but I believe that he can. Tell him I sent ya over
Thanks for the leads guys. I actually found a local retailer (Audio Crafters in Pasadena) that gave me a great deal on a 8455. The owner is very nice and while I did just purchase the unit there, the service and attention to detail was top notch.
BTW, Mr. Marv does have a couple of 8053's left at a great price as well.
what kinda price is that unit? ive had eclipse head units in the past for C4 vettes ive owned and swear by em and im liking that unit depending on price

Mr. Marv quoted me $350 shipped for a new in the box (not refurbished) CD8053. It's a 2004 model, but he says he was able to hunt some down in the back of a warehouse. He guarantee's it won't be DOA, but there's no warranty beyond that.
I got Audio Crafter's last CD8455, it was actually the display model. They gave me everything, box, manuals, memory stick, microphone and even a new harness, with a 1 year warranty for $399 plus tax.
I bought my 8053 from Mr Marv. Good guy to deal with and knowledgeable (he also built my box for my IDQ 12") and the HU was absolutely brand new in box as advertised.
