Default Installing aftermarket head unit into c5. Will interface keep all speakers?

I called crutchfield and they said when installing an aftermarket head unit, I will lose the woofers in my doors. Will the interface solve this problem, or does the interface only quiet my speakers as compared to without the interface?

Got it, guess I'm going with Soundgate then. Two new q's then, because it's obvious you're the man of this section.

1. What would happen if I didnt use the interface?
2. I am buying an in-dash DVD unit with harness. Will this interface completely replace the harness?

1) you wouldnt get you subs to work, maybe some other things as well...i wouldn't say it is recommended

2) are you talking about the harness that comes packaged with the head unit itself? or the optional one that plugs into the factory connector? if it's the second one then yes, it should replace it but it wont replace the one that hooks into the headunit itself.

however i have never installed one myself, so i could be wrong.

You won't need the harness that came with the head unit. Just wire the soundgate strait to the head unit and it will plug right in. I used the soundgate and it works great. One word of advise, tape your wiring together before cramming it back in. It will save you some headaches. You will need to do a few other things as well though. Your new unit will not power on through the harness, you need to tap into a keyed power source. If you remove the knee bolster on the drivers side you will be able to access a big brown wire. Power your unit through this wire and your unit will only come on when the key is on (this is what I did). Others have also taped into the accessory wire in the passenger footwell. To get the dimmer feature you will need to tap into the yellow wire on your air control unit (I didn't find this out until after I did the install). Also, you will need an adapter for your antenna to work (at least I did) and you can pick one of these up at autozone. As far as fitting the unit in you will have to cut or bent a support tab to make it fit. A forum member, vrum vrum, makes a bracket that eliminates this problem so shoot him a pm. Good luck.
