Default 4 gauge OK for two amps?

I have a single 8 gauge running to my amp area now, but I am installing a new second Phoenix Gold amp.

Should I run one new 4 gauge wire for both amps or a second 8 gauge wire for the new amp?

I have to buy a new length to wire any way.

1 amp = 2 x 75 watt @ 4 ohms

1 amp = 2 X 200 watt @ 4 ohms

EDIT, sorry, I should have searched the web first, this chart says another 8 gauge is ok.

4 gauge for the main line to a distribution block and short lengths of 8 gauge to each amp will be fine for those watts. Make sure you fuse right at the battery (100amp or more) and 40-60 amp fuses in the distribution block and you will be gtg.

What kind of connectors are good for connecting this 4 gauge to the battery?

Right now I use a spade connector under the positive battery connector.

I just ordered a couple battery terminals from knuconceptz.com for mine. Think they were like $11 each or something. c5's have a side post for the regular battery connections so I bought the connectors to use the top post for the stereo power/ground. (need to do big 3 as install is almost done )

My battery only has the one side post with the threaded hole in it. I will make do and maybe get a new battery later.

BTW, I bought/found 4-gauge wire, 100 amp fuse block, 1-in and 2-out amplifier distribution block and dual 40-amp fuse block, Ialready have @ 12 feet of 8 guage.

My Phoenix Gold amp and 2nd sub will arrive Friday so,, I should be rolling by Saturday noon.

I must admit, I was skeptical but then impressed with the single 8" sub so I know a double 8" sub set up is gonna sound nice.

Thanks for the help guys!

They make a GM battery post extender as well which would eliminate the need to do anything special with a terminal and could just throw a ring style connector on for your power along with your stock connections.
