I'm purchasing a D1 from a fellow form member who had the unit in a C6. C5 Kidd is going to build a new bezel for me to accept the double din so thats not an issue, but what other issues with a C5 install?
I've seen some posts concerning the following, but haven't seen a comprehensive over of the install. Can someone advise:
1. Problems I'm going to encounter if any?
2. What is the "fix" I've read in some posts about concerning the unit skipping while driving and not being able to use the nav function? ( I think I read that correctly?)
3. Am I going to need to move the HVAC to have proper clearance to accept the D1?
there is an empty slot on the d1's wiring harness. you need to get a wire (i used the mute wire i think) and insert it in that opening, then ground it. now just ground your ebrake wire and you should be good to go. WARNING...I DONT RECOMMED DOING THIS AND YOU SHOULD DOUBLE CHECK ONLINE TO GET MORE INFORMATION.
I have the D1 in my C5..no skipping in Nav mode. At present I have it in a stereo shop to have the bezel molded, DVD player moved to the dash and placed under the D1 after the A/C controls are moved to the ash tray pocket and having the bezel covered in carbon fiber.
C5 Kidd quoted me $500.00 to mold my bezel and it would take three weeks to complete. This is being done local and having the A/C controller moved, having the DVD player relocated and the 12 pack CD changer relocated plus molding and fiber covering the bezel for $650.00.
