Default Aftermarket Audio Equiptment Advice?

im looking to change from my factory stock system to a aftermarket system in my 97 and i started the process already by buying a pioneer ts-w306c sub and im going to get a stealth box for it.im thinking of going with the old school ppi amps and a newer if not new eclipse head unit as well as a eclipse changer.im not looking for my eyes to rattle just a nice clean sound so now i need advice on whats a good speaker or speakers for my doors for mids and highs?

thanx,
rikk

Self installed? Paying for install? How much more money are you looking at spending? Custom work or drop in? C5 doors will fit a pretty wide array of speakers in them. From large 2 way set ups (6.5 to 8" mid and tweet) to 3 way set ups (6.5 to 8" midbass + 3-4" midrange + tweet) For a couple hundred dollars the Infinity Perfect set is tough to beat. If you like a LOT of highs in your music MB quart. If you like a smoother, more accurate sound tough to beat the Focal line of speakers. Many here also like the CDT speakers.

Scott_fx has CDT's, you can get them from their official ebay site. Focal I would try and deal with authorized dealers, and if you deal with ebay deal with serial numbered product only. I keep saying this, but Zalytron.com is an authorized retailer and often buys last years product, or overrun stuff directly from Focal. Check out his site.

i checked out the focal site and i seen the 7" driver 7 K 6411 mids for $152 bucks but i will still be needing a tweeter and i seen a price of $299 for tweeters which i think is a lil much for a tweeter and what im willing to pay for tweeters.the mids seemed like a great price though.

I recommend the 7" Focal Polykevlar 7211 dual 8 ohm voice coil units for $100 per driver. I run them myself and they are very solid sounding/performing drivers.

Tweets I would recommend the TN52 tweeter. Call elliott tomorrow and ask him for them. Throw in the Focal Polyglass 3 way crossovers for $25 each and you have a great quality component system for far under retail for a similar Focal Polykevlar mid/tweet set up.

Fej
*edit* sorry my mistake the 3 way crossovers would NOT work in a 2 way set up due to the 12db rolloff at 300hz on the midrange. I did not think of it that way since I use mine in a 2 way mode, but with a midrange and a tweet, not a midbass and a tweet.

You need to listen bfor you buy. I know I sound like a Pioneer commercial, but check out the Pioneer REV series. Quality without the price. Put 2 of these 6 1/5" component sets in with the TS-SW1241D sub in a subthump box and a Primier 4000 amp and you wont be dissappointed. Pioneer finally got back in the game. Like I said, liste bfor you buy. Shop car stereo stores not chain stores

I have a set of CDT's and like them. I have a set of CL-63's in my other car and a set of CL-41's I'm in the process of installing with a set of Kicker SSMB 8's for a 3 way system. I got a good deal on the CDT's from www.ultimate-sounds.com. If you decide on CDT's checkout http://www.cdtaudio.com/authdealers.htm and shop around. Ultimate Sounds has some 2005 models left on sale and the ebay store often gets in B stocks at good prices.

Bang for the buck probably the middle of the road CDT's.

Best three way set up for the money? Probably the DLS Iridium 6.3 set.

Best sound? Tough to call, probably can't go wrong with any of the 3 but I would classify the CDT a notch below the Focal myself. Unless you get into the $1000 + sets. The DLS Iridium set is awfully good as well.

If you spend $300 CDT's
$400 I would go with Zalytron and the 7/tweet we talked about
$500 Focal Polykevlar 6.5 K2P
$650 or so DLS Iridium 6.3

More than that? DLS 8.3 or custom build up from Focal.
