Default Advice: Nav/sound system c5 coupe

I am planning to install a new Nav/sound system in my 2004 c5 to replace the Bose. Would appreciate your advice!
• Head unit: Eclipse vs. Pioneer. I’ve heard the Eclipse produces better sound? Is the new AVN 6600 which is also IPOD compatible worth the extra $500+ over AVN 5435 or the D1 Pioneer? This model is in dash screen vs. flip up(which is better)?
• Speakers? Doors only vs. rears also?(components and brands suggested: JL, Diamond, Eclipse or other), which size and type?
• Subwoofer(s): 2 times10” the way to go? Brand? Location? Mounting/enclosure advice.
• Amps?
• Sound deadening: What areas? Worth the cost?
• Sound quality: cd vs. IPOD vs. Satellite radio. I.e. If I’m going to take advantage of the system do I necessarily need to run cds, or will I get results with more compressed media(mp3/satellite)?
Thanks for your help!

eclipse all the way, plus..doesnt hte eclipse have 8v outputs on that deck? not sure about the new 6600 i'd have to research it.

flip up has more stuff to break, in dash screen requires you to modify the dash (not hard, time consuming though)

it's all subjective. go and have a listen. Personally i have cdt's and love them. focal's are supposed to be the way to go though.
most of us disconnect the rear speakers for better soundstage

i have a single 12 and love it. you can mount it in the center storage compartment in the trunk. check out www.subthump.com for the box

budget? either get a nice 4 chan or two-2 chan or a 2 chan and a mono. it' all depends on what you are getting for speakers.
brands....audioson, xtant (if you can find used ones, not sure about the current line) jl-audio, usamps i heard were good too, but never heard em.

i'll tell you more about this after i'm done, but from being in a partially deadened car..yes it's worth it. cost depends on what you get.

Thanks for your help![/QUOTE]

cd is decoded at 44.1k, ipod uses mp3 or mp4/aac which is a compressed version of the original cd (does the ipod allow you to use 'flac' codec? that is losless and it would be the same sq as the orig cd. you'll notice it more on a better system then you would on stock bose. Sat radio..not sure.
