can I use the control wire from my amps to trigger the antenna amp to turn on and where is the best place to power the ant.amp can I run a wire from my amp power for this also what color wires would I be splicing into if this is possible. thank you
THERE MUST BE AN EASIER WAY.how many volts does the h/u put out to signal the amps to turn on and why not run a power lead from the amp with the signal wire this sounds much easier if the voltage is correct from the amp signal wire. Unless im missing something here.I dont think the antenna amp would draw enough power to harm the amplifiers performance.
maddman, there is a different way, easier depends on your soldering ability. It is definately a smaller package and should only cost about a buck. You will need a 5.1 volt zener diode. On the end of the diode opposite the line(line is on the neg side) solder a 1kohm resistor. Solder the end of the diode(-) to the green wire and the end of the resistor to ground. You should now read 5.1 volts across the diode. Now solder your pink wire to the end of the diode hooked to the green wire.
DISCLAIMER: check all voltages prior to hooking up. I wont be held responsible for damages to vehicle or components. The above is suggestions only. I had to say that, but do double check your voltage prior to hook up. I've used this same setup at 9 v input with an output of 5.18 v at 33.3 ma. Should be about the same at 12v.
