Hey folks, I just finished up my system install this past weekend. I have to say that I'm very pleased. Here's what went in:
Doors: Infinity Kappa 6.5 Components (tweets in door pulls)
Rear: Infinity Kappa 5 1/4 Full Range
Sub: Infinity Kappa 10" (sub thump box)
Amplifier: Infinity Reference 5761a
Head Unit: Pioneer 8400
For all of you that elect to replace your rear speakers too (I know many people just ditch them), I would recomend this amp. You can get approx. 80 watts rms X 4 (2-ohm loads) + approx. 290 watts rms to your sub (bridged mode, 4-ohm). For me, it was alot cheaper than trying to do the 4-channel and 2-channel amp combination. It's $400 amp from crutchfield. I got this one for $260 on ebay.
I see several people on the forum asking about amp combinations, so I just thought I would throw this amp out into the mix.
Yep, I rewired all of the speakers. I inserted a 1/2 piece of plywood under the carpet in the rear and just mounted the amp back there. While I didn't go to the extent of an amp rack or anything, it is still fairly neat, especially since I just have one amp to power everything.
