Mounting Amps?
I am going to start the install of my new audio system in my 04 vert tomorrow. I am planning to mount my amps to a piece of 1/2" carpeted MDF and put that behind the seats below where the convertible top sits when the top is down.
How should I secure this to the car? Don't want 40 pounds of JL Audio missile in a car accident.
Also, any tips on securing a flush mount Subthump sub box?

the waterfall is a good barrier to protect you. i actually never mounted mine. it's more or less a friction fit. you are going to run into clearance issues too if you silicone a 1/2 mdf under the carpet then scre another 1/2 to that. if you're really worried about it you could bolt it to the carpet using big washers on the underside... i guess :-)

My plan was to not put any MDF under the carpet and instead simply mount the amps to a carpeted piece of MDF. I had forgotten about the waterfall...maybe I will just super velcro the MDF to the carpet so it won't slide around and leave it like that. I'll check out the other thread too.

i dont think our carpet is a good loop for velcro. Like i've said, i've had my amp rack in there for over a year and it hasn't moved (even when i go for a spirited ride up in the canyons).
