Default Amp Question???

i have a pioneer ts-w306c 12" sub and im going to either use 2 way or 3 way component speakers not sure yet but leaning towards either focal or dls.my question is will the dls a5 amp be enough to run the comps and the sub and sound nice?

Hmm, I am not that familiar with that Pioneer sub, but it is recommended at 400 watts RMS and that DLS amp will only push 300 watts rms at 4 ohms. I would probably say it would sound ok, but I can't promise the kind of bass impact you want.

If you went 2 way with the 85-100 watts it specs at I think you would be fine. I also think that you would be ok with a premade 3 way speaker set like the DLS 6.3. I have 140 watts per side to my 3 way and I think it helps a lot on the midbass side having 70w to just them.

Let me look around at some amps in the same price range, do you want to stay single amp?

well i just bought a zapco reference 350 two channel amp i was going to run my comps with and was going to buy a zapco reference 750 to run my sub with but i found a killer deal on that dls amp for $450 if it would work both the sub i have and comps which i found a set of dsl ur6s comps for $160 im thinking of jumping on as well.what do you think would be better bro?

Is that the correct name for those DLS components? Cannot find specs on any speakers listed under that name. As for the amp I don't think it will push the comps well enough if you went 3 way. But that is just my opinion and a guess on my part. I am sure it would run that sub pretty well, just not optimally. And hard for me to tell you to loose that Zapco 350. There are a couple 750's on ebay right now .... could also go with a pair of 350's to run things ... 350 zapco watts would work.

I believe those were last years line right below the Iridium line. They got rid of that line this year and added the Nobellium line this year. Not that that is a bad thing, I am sure it is a solid performing 6.5/tweet set.

i know that dls amp is a sweet looking amp but so are the zapco reference amps and im thinking i will stick with the zapco and work on getting another zapco prefer the 750 for my sub but if you think the 350 will push my sub then i will try and find a matching 350 to go with the 1 i just bought.do you think those dls comps would sound good and how will they compare to the new dls comps? or should i go 3 way? damn this is too much like work

Hard to say bro. Depends on your budget IMO. That 750 would seriously push that 12" for sure. I think that the 350 would push it well, obviously not to the extent that the 750 would. As for the 2 way vs 3 way I think you know how I feel about it. For $650 that Iridium 6.3 is awful good.

yea true on the 3 ways and yea i already know what ya think about those i figured that 160 bucks for the 2 ways was a sweet deal if they are close to what the 3 ways sound like.

Sounds like a good deal for sure. They just won't play as low in the front stage. Do some deadening and you could probably get 80hz from them for a low point, maybe a touch higher if you only have a 12db slope.
