to be honest, to build the door panels isn't that hard.
They easily come apart.
1) remove the door panel.
2) remove the carpeted piece.
3) remove the carpet.
4) drill a big hole kinda where the speaker will go.
5) get a piece of MDF or particle board, and cut it into a ring that will fit the speaker. I don't think more than a 4" will fit there.
6) Get a piece of cardboard and cut it into a 3" strip, long enough to wrap around the ring. Staple it to the ring and coat in a layer of fiberglass resin. That will give it strength (to be honest #5 and #6 could be done first).
7) hot glue the dried ring assembly to what used to be carpeted with the big hole. It might require some minor tweeking to fit it, and be sure it's vertical to the door - all the angles can confuse things.
8) Once that is done, get some bondo and layer it around to give some bevel and smooth out the angles. Sand accordingly. I have since redone my driver side (haven't had time to hit the passengers side) with black vinyl, using 3M Spray on Contact Cement.
That's it... it just takes time for everything to dry.... the fibreglass resin is the longest - 24 hours. The bondo? about 20 minutes per coat, and the hot glue, just a few minutes.
