Could someone suggest a low range unit that doesn't need installation.
Maybe a tube with built in amp or prefab form that just needs signal and power wire that can be removed for roadtrips. I would just like to add some lows to my 99 convertable without actual installation. Thanks for suggestions on brands and models.
I just put a Bazooka BTA8100 in my '99. (8-inch sub with built in 100 watt amp). It fits very well in the center compartment and sounds good. This weekend I'm continuing my audio tweaking with plans to put Elemental Designs eDead all throughout the hatch area, which I expect will help make the bazooka more defined.
Already, though, I'm happy with the added base and the ease of intallation and easy removability.
Oh, and last week it was on sale via circuitcity.com for $179 and free shipping.
You can always mount an amp under passenger seat or somewhere out of the way and then just unhook the sub box and remove for more room its what I do in my DD when i need room

If I have a Changer in the rear compartment would I be able to get power and signal from that area? I want simplest installation that is possible. The Infinity bass link T looks very promissing.
no problem, you'll need a pac adapter that gives you rca outs and just run power and ground cables. You dont want to really re-use any existing wiring.

you may have to move the CD changer to one of the side compartments... I don't have one, so I don't really know for sure if the Bazooka would fit in there with it. Let me know if you want me to take a pic of how it fits.
I'm not trying to put the sub in the space. I just want a power plug and signal cord to plug into an amplified sub box that just sits in the trunk during cruising and around town. No installation, no moving nothing. Thanks!
I don't know if it's quite what you want, but it works for me. I have an MTX amp mounted behind my seat which is hardwired into the stereo system, but it is out of the way. My speaker box just sits in the back and is connected with a set of banana plugs. It allows for easy removal of the speaker box by simply unplugging two speaker wires. I don't have to unscrew anything and more importantly I don't have to mess with any live power wires floating around in the back!

It's pretty easy to run a power wire from the battery down the passenger side of the car, up behind the seats/speakers and into the rear area. Once you pull the carpet off the side panels you'll see where the factory routes most of the wires. I'm not sure about where to get sound; there's some debate as to whether the rears get the low-frequency signals you'll need.
