Got some new toys today unfortuantely they arent for me, but you can enjoy the pics. I am very excited about getting this deck installed, its for a forum member I can only assume he is very anxious. The Elemental Designs EDI6500 components are going in a buddys car as well very shortly. More pics will follow after installs. Let me know what you guys think.
Eclipse CD5000 and Ipod Interface. This baby has 8volt preouts can you say killer.
I absolultely love there components I have only heard this model the 6500s in a ****ty install and they still sounded great, I cant wait to hear em in my buddys car properly deadened getting a nice clean signal. There budge model 6000s are also stellar did them in a buddys Jeep and a friends dads C4 vette. Too bad they wont fit my DD without major mods
Pentavolvo...I took a quick look at the ED components...looks good with a good price. Have you ever added a third speaker to make it a three-way system?
What I'm wondering is if I could take the 6500S and add a 3 or 4" mid-range speaker. This would possibly necessitate using an active cross-over. It could be done using the passive x-overs with the ED components and the HU x-over (in the Eclipse). I'm worried about how much muddiness might occur where the 6.5 of the component is playing the same frequencies as the added mid-range.
Congrats on the new goodies. I'm sure you're dyin' to hear the results.
Let us know how she sounds!
Be sure NOT to use the "loudness" setting or you'll muddy up all your cleanliness as it boosts +10dB at the 100Hz and +6.5dB at the 10kHz. That will also make the highs pretty harsh.
Will there be an amp driving these babies? If so, be careful to select your higher voltage input setting switch if the amp has one. 8 volts can be too much for many amps that don't have that selectability.

I have the 6500's in my car your buddy is going to love them
Where did you mount the tweeter?
I have the stock Bose in mine right now and have noticed my leg blocking some of the "highs". I'm afraid if I mount the tweeter near the 6.5 in the door, then I'll block the highs. I'm also afraid if I mount the tweeter in the door pulls with the 6.5 down low, there could be some phase issues.
So, just curious how you have your's setup and if you have noticed any compromises. Thanks!
i have the 6500's along with some eD amps and subs in my truck and love it all. you'll really like those 6500's, it's amazing how loud they will get and they ALWAYS sound crystal clear.
