C5 stock audio harness access question
I recently purchased an Ipod2car kit, that includes the GMH20TC harness that plugs into the HU, not the COR-HAR that plugs into the passenger footwell. I've learned from reading the FAQ how to connect it.
Question: Can the audio harness for the stock system be reached from the back (i.e. by laying on my back in the footwell and reaching around) without having to pull the console and remove the radio? Or is removing the console and center dash piece the only way to access the harness to connect this thing up? TIA.
You have to remove the radio to get to the harnesses. Its fairly easy to remove the center dash and radio if you havent done it before. Takes maybe 5 min after you've done it once. Oh and you'll want to remove the HVAC piece as well. It'll be easier to cram in all the harnesses and interfaces with those 2 removed. G'Luck and let us know if you run into any problems

Thank you. Final two questions before I removed the center panel...
1. Can just the center panel be removed independently of the center console (radio/HVAC surround bezel)? I have a vert, so if the center console/armrest needs to be removed, I'll have to remove the waterfall and all of that as well. Just trying to save some time and hassle, here. I'm hoping I can leave the armrest/console in place and just remove the pieces forward of it.
2. I have an A4 and it seems like the shifter boot is really tightly in there. Should I have any concerns about this? I read in the FAQ that it should be shifted into first or something. Many thanks -- and for the tip about the HVAC, too.
the center arm rest just needs to have the bolts removed so that you can move it up and bit. The center dash has tabs or slots that slide into the center arm rest part. You'll see what im talking about once your in there. The arm rest bolts are 10mm and i dont remember the torx bit for the center dash and the screws that hold the radio and HVAC in are 7mm.
Here are some great directions. these are for getting to the dash, but will get you to where you need
