Default setting the HZ level on amp ??

I'm a little confused when it comes to the fine tuning of a system, I have a fosgate 800a4 amp running to dynaudio components up front and 2 rear fosgate 8's, not sure what to set the hz level at for the 8's, nor the front's---I don't wanna blow the speakers....

fej will chime in soon enough with some specifics, but for the time being read the last couple posts or so on the c5 audio faq. there are some posts about tuning that will help you out.

The general rule is between 80 and 120 Hz. Of coarse, that means to run the componets above that freq and the 8"s below that freq. I run my systems close to 80 Hz except my truck. I have 4X6"s and in the dash and Kenwoods (they SUC ) in the rears. I use 125 Hz most of the time, sometimes 80 Hz, and 60 Hz never.

In my experience I have found that doors that have sound deadening will play down to around 80 to 85hz with a 6" or bigger driver. Generally the larger the voice coil and the higher end the driver ($$$) the more likely it will play to or lower than that 80hz point. Most times a door without deadening will cause a fair amount of resonance (and distortion) when trying to play to 80hz, and will play better (and more accurately) around 90 to 100hz. That being said, the lower your front stage plays, generally the more accurate it will sound. I have said it many times, but the hardest thing to do in a car is to play the midbass frequency range well.

As penta said 80hz for the highpass on the mids and the lowpass on the subs is a good starting point. I do recommend tuning WITHOUT your subs on for the front stage as the subs can mask distortion in the mids and you will be able to get a better idea on just how low your front stage will play BEFORE the subs help to reinforce it. A lot of it depends on your crossover slopes as well. Higher the slope the lower you can play (generally).
