Default Problem with my install

I installed a Kenwood KDC-MP4028 and Pioneer 6-1/2(rear) and 5-1/4(front) in my 1990 C4.

When I turn my car on the unit doesn't always come back on, I need to press the reset button.

Another issue is that after about 20 min of listening the sound starts to fade out to nothing, the volume level indicator doesn't change. If I power off the unit for about 5 or 10 min everything come back until about 20 min and it fades again.

I hope some one can help this is very annoying.

++ That is not a big deal. Some HU's are designed this way I think. I always shut off my equipment before shutting off the car. I was always told the power surges on start up could damage the electronics over time.

++ This sounds like an internal problem with the HU. Could be a poor ground, but I'd doubt it.

I hope some one can help this is very annoying.

Thanks,

The grounding is making me wonder if the speaker wires are getting powered or maybe I should check the wiring where the stock amps used to be.

thanks again

could be a short somewhere behind the dash but i doubt it. to me it sounds like your deck is overheating causeing it to shut the internal amp off... ive had this happen before

Did you run NEW wiring or use the old stuff?

Run new ones, cant hurt. And it gives you peace of mind knowing that your new system wired correctly.

I always assume ground first, then suspect everything else......

Sounds like we are going to have to take this problem from the begining. Redo grounds, clean them really well and make sure it is a good ground, etc.
