I am looking for any input on installing an 8" sub in the rear compartment of a C5. I am looking to get the sub and amp in the rear compartment where they can both be completely covered/protected ( with a modified compartement cover) and I still have all the "trunk" space in my coupe.
Also, I have been looking at solo-baric speakers (probably the L5's), are they worth the money/hype or for the money are their other subs that can compete with or beat it?
IMO the L5 is all boom which is great for some but its not very clean, look into elemental designs, cdt audio, Image Dynamics, Polk, MTX, etc or even a Kicker Comp VR

I can't speak about the other subs but I personally own 8" ID speakers. ID does not make the 8" anymore but they can still be found. The 10" is even a better speaker.
I'm running a single 10" Alpine Type-X and am very pleased. Very tight and very clean. I know JL Audio makes some excellent 8" subs as well. Personally I would go with a 10". Still very tight and more capable than an 8". Pretty much as easy to hide as well.
Thanks for all the info guys. I am pretty settled on getting an 8 and not a 10, I just want a little more sound on the bottom end, which I think the 8 will meet my needs. I really want it totally contained in the center compartment, amps and all, so I think the 8 set up will work out great for what I am looking for. And if I am wrong, I won't have a ton of money tied up in the 8" system so it wouldn't be difficult to change over to a 10 -- most likely just a new box and sub and utilize the same amp.
About the speaker recommendations, thanks also. I have never heard a square solo baric speaker, so I don't know how good they are. I will most likely go the JL route, I had good luck with them in the past, I was just looking at something a little different.
