I was going to go just the new head unit and keep the old bose but after I got the head unit in (sony MEX-5DI) It doesnt have speaker out wires it must have a amp. Im not looking for any window blowing system but one that sounds good. I like the head unit and want to go with a 10in sub that is covered and not seen in the center cargo area. The HU has front and rear RCA out and also a Sub out. Question time. What componet speakers have a decent sound for the front doors but wont brake the bank? What speakers should I put in the rears? Can I use 1 amp to run front and rear? If so what is a good mid cost one? Does anyone have a set of box plans and what amp should I use for that? That was a mouth full! Thanks! OH ya last of all anyone selling theirs?
check out cdt classic line or elemental designs components (havent had experience with ED's but havent read anything bad about them) for a good bang for the buck.
you can use one amp. look for a good 4 chan amp, again check out elemental designs website for some great amps for the dollar
forget about the rears, you'll thank us for this one
email me for box plans
i have a box/sub for sale but only for local pick up.

If you have even basic carpentery skills and tools, you can build the box from Scott's plans. I just did that last week using his plans and the box rocks! I just finished doing some more tweaking on it tonight and the single 10" sub is hittin' hard.
There is only one complex cut on the plans and as far as I could figure you will need a table saw. Fortunately my neighbor has one, so I cut everything else with a skill saw and did the one cut on his table saw. Glue and screw and drop it in the center cargo location.
I installed a older MTX T61044a dual 4 ohm voicecoil 10" sub with a MTX 6152 amp. That amp is nowwhere near maxed out for that sub, but it still hits really hard. I think you'll be pleased with a single 10".
I wish I had a digital camera available to take some pics for you. Mine does sit below the surface enough that I can fit a cover over top of it. I plan to use the stock cover as a template to make my new cover. I will cut a hole where the sub is, cover that will speaker grill cloth, and then carpet the rest of the top.
Another poster informed me that you can get those special cover latches at the GM dealer to hold the new cover in place. I plan to stop by the local dealer to see how much these are and get some if they are reasonable.
If you are thinking of picking up a 4 channel to power speakers up front and a sub in the back the Phoenix Gold R8.0:4 and Elemental Designs Nine.4 are both killer amps for this I have personally used both and they both worked great
i am very happy with my PG 8.0.4 amp. Here is what Ive got so you can see a price perhaps. The amp cost $157.80 shipped. The 4ch RCAs from knukonceptz cost 34.99 shipped for the 6m length. They are nice because you just run one set of RCAs and forget about it. I just installed a set of CDT CL-61A's and they cost me $134 shipped. I am very happy with this new setup. Oh and im also running 2 image dynamic 10s, but all you really need is 1. Find out what you want to go with and then do some shopping, spending a few days looking for a good price will help a lot.
