New set-up first impressions
I wanted a more efficient sub so I'd only have to use 1 amp in my system. Weight savings is a big issue here as I race.
McIntosh amp is a 6 channel split up as follows:
4x50 bridged @ 4 ohms to the front stage Focal Utopia 6.5's
2x100 bridged @ 4 ohms to the new JL sub 10W3V3
Impressions:
I was concerned the Mc wouldn't have enough juice to power the sub especially at 4 ohms and I was wrong. That, plus it seems the new JL is fairly efficient even though it is only rated ~85 dB (1W at 1 M) I don't know much about subs here, but I'm learning.
I typically don't recommend JL speakers or amps, but this sub is mighty impressive for the $ (~$200)
In playing tracks 5 and 8 from Tools latest, the subs decay/recovery rate really shines. Especially during those points where the drums deliver an onslaught of double bass that really put any cone to the test.
Overall I'm really impressed with the quality of the output of the new JL, and the vastly underrated clean driving force of the McIntosh.
But also the new Alumapro cap that keeps the extra power on tap and my dash voltmeter reading ~14v during it all

Heard those things compared to the Focals and they were significantly better.

I need to get this tool disc, work is just killing me, along with the allergies
I am getting the itch to play around with mine some more, just wish I could find a set of the 3 way crossovers from the DLS Iridium line to play with
Ah well, with busy times comes more $$$ to play with

I don't think I would've checked that disc out if you hadn't mentioned it in an earlier post.
Hell Fej even has me thinking about Celine.....
Actually, I always thought she had a phenomenal voice.

And the pollen is killing everybody I know. Heck, I've been sneazing for the last week with a runny nose.
