Default Replacing Bose System

I've been reading around on the forums for info on replacing the stock system in my C4. The only experience I have is replacing the headunit. I'm not the most comfortable with electronics, but i've got the patience to give it a try. I want to replace the entire system including headunit, speakers, and wiring.

I've got a few questions for those who have experience with this. Do I need to remove the panels underneath the dash to remove the wiring? Would it be easier if I took the doors off, or is that a bad idea?

I already have a good pioneer deck and i'm looking to get some 4.5" Boston Acoustic speakers. I've also been told to use 14 gauge wiring. I appreciate any suggestions.

I live in Norway and I'm in the same situation as you are. I have a 1989 Corvette convertible, and I want to replace the Bose radio and speakers with a modern CD-player. My questions are:
  • Do I have to remove the inner door trim panel to get access to the door-speaker with amplifier?
  • What sort of speakers can I then put in the doors? 4"?, or are there room for å larger speaker ther when the amplifier and speaker are removed?
  • What about the rear speakers. Is there any problems putting in a 6x9" speaker there?
  • Do you have any suggestions to what kind of speakers I should buy, both in the doors and in the rear?
Thanks!
