I am starting to work on system for C6 2006 corvette. I am also building a 72 vette from the ground up and have done allot of fiber glassing on it (long term project). Right now I am pretty well broke so I am in the planning stage. I want to buy one time and not upgrade over and over. I mainly want great sound and the capability to crank up the base every once in a while. I listen to all types of music. This is my first run at my list.

honestly, you aren't going to get as much from rear speakers as you would from taking that money and putting it towards a more powerful amp. you'll have plenty of midbass if you put more 'clean' power to the fronts and sound deaden the car.

 

After doing some research I think this is the route I will go and eliminate the rears and go stronger on amps and speakers. Now all I have to do is convince my banker/wife..... I think I will tell her that It will get better gas mileage.

Looks like a nice list of components. I am not sure how much space you are willing to sacrafice in your "trunk" area, but a 12w7 will need a pretty serious box to get the necessary air space for that sub, somewhere in the 1.25 to 1.5cu^3 range from what I recall on their site. (too lazy to go check) It is also a relatively tall sub, I think in the 9.5" deep range. You might consider a 12w6 for a fair amount smaller box and about 1.5" less depth.

I was planing on building a fiberglass box at the location that some are putting the divders at. I still want to be able to put my roof back thier. I might have to go with the 12w6. I think I will rough out the area with some carboard and use some packing peanuts to measure the volume.

 

I think the link is bcae.com that has some very nice box volume calculators built into the site that will probably save you some time. Just rough out some measurements and use the calculator + the manufacturer's sub displacement to get your volume.
