Wow you are crazy man. Looks very good. Takes ***** to remove the fender on a new car, I hope it works our great for you cause its a killer stealth setup
yea what he said, very balsy to remove the fender. does look awesome though. How do you get to it for tunning purposes, or do you just tune it and forget it
Unfortunately, it's a tune and forget sort of thing. I had to tune it before putting the fender back on. It only takes about 15 minutes to remove the fender now that I know how. Takes a bit longer to put it back on because of gap alignment. I mounted the amp upside down so I could get to the fuses from the fender well if they ever blew, however, it might have made more sense to mount it right side up so that the crossover and gain settings were accessible.
The Alpine sounds great so far. Very well built unit with excellent connectors for speaker and Power wires. I got mine on ebay for about 500 plus shipping. I originally ordered it on sale from tweeter but they couldn't get it in so I cancelled and went thru ebay (for much cheaper). Of course, you lose the warranty but my mounting location would probably void the warranty anyway if something were to happen to it.
is there any chance of water getting in from rain, or is it water tight.
i know it never seems to rain here in N. TX. but i wouldnt want it to get ruined from shower that popped up.
I used wire loom for all the wiring and wrapped it as best I could.
If you notice the picture of the inside of the fender before the amp is installed, you will see that it's really pretty clean up in there. I didn't have to clean it before putting in the amp. I didn't see any signs of water intrusion in this area and I have had my car out in the rain several times.
There is a black plastic shroud that surrounds the inside opening of the fender vent that blocks water coming in from directly hitting the amp.
Unexpected Side Effect...I have a rather ominous blue glow eminating from the passenger fender fent...Only noticable if you are looking though and only at night:
