Default C6 Stealth Amp Install Finished - Finally

Well my Alpine PDX4.150 finally came in.

After some discussion on the best place to put it (see discussion), I decided to try an experiment and mount it in the front right fender area.

Turns out it's a pretty good area up in there, nice and dry with lots of space. Time will tell how it holds up but so far, so good.

Here are a couple of pics, more are here: Stereo Install

yea what he said, very balsy to remove the fender. does look awesome though. How do you get to it for tunning purposes, or do you just tune it and forget it

looks great

Unfortunately, it's a tune and forget sort of thing. I had to tune it before putting the fender back on. It only takes about 15 minutes to remove the fender now that I know how. Takes a bit longer to put it back on because of gap alignment. I mounted the amp upside down so I could get to the fuses from the fender well if they ever blew, however, it might have made more sense to mount it right side up so that the crossover and gain settings were accessible.

Great looking install!

How does the Alpine sound? I'm also thinking of getting the same amp but would like to mount it in the stock location.

Were you able to find it at a good price...so far the best I've seen is ~$500?

The Alpine sounds great so far. Very well built unit with excellent connectors for speaker and Power wires. I got mine on ebay for about 500 plus shipping. I originally ordered it on sale from tweeter but they couldn't get it in so I cancelled and went thru ebay (for much cheaper). Of course, you lose the warranty but my mounting location would probably void the warranty anyway if something were to happen to it.

that looks great, and you must be feeling pretty confident to take the fender off.

Thanks! It's really not as tough as it looks though. If the fender were metal instead of plastic, I probably wouldn't have done it.

I figured I couldn't do much damage since it is plastic. If it was a carbon fiber fender from a Z, then I definitely would have chickened out!

is there any chance of water getting in from rain, or is it water tight.
i know it never seems to rain here in N. TX. but i wouldnt want it to get ruined from shower that popped up.

Water is my primary concern.

I used wire loom for all the wiring and wrapped it as best I could.

If you notice the picture of the inside of the fender before the amp is installed, you will see that it's really pretty clean up in there. I didn't have to clean it before putting in the amp. I didn't see any signs of water intrusion in this area and I have had my car out in the rain several times.

There is a black plastic shroud that surrounds the inside opening of the fender vent that blocks water coming in from directly hitting the amp.

No guarantees of course, but so far, so good.

In my 10+ years of installing car audio, I have never done something that cool or carzy!! Props to you for thinking outside of the box... literally!!

I may use that idea sometime in the future as well... great job!!
