I am swapping out Head Units and because of time and expense, don't really want to rip out the entire stereo system.
I saw this on a thread somewhere here, but don't see anything recent.
Does anyone know if this thing REALLY does allow you to maintain your existing amplified BOSE system and speakers and properly interface with the an aftermarket head unit, without damage to the components, and in a plug & play configuration?
Would apprecaite any replies/opinions/personal experiences with this device.
dont know about that one, but i just had an avic n3 installed with the soundgate gmcrv1. stereo sounds very good to me, maybe even better than before. but im no audiophile.
I got mine from crutchfield.com. They are a reputable dealer and I have purchased from them 2 times before with no problems. They have a search tool that will allow you to put your exact year, make, and model in so that you know you're getting the right part.
I have one installed on my car.......... I really didn't like the way it made the stock Bose speakers sound. It might have been adjusted wrong........ I first had no bass at all, then when the installer got the bass to work the sound was not good. I finally replaced all the speakers , and had to leave the harness in to power the stereo, but not using the speaker outputs. I did this so not to have to buy another adaptor and since the installer all ready had the stereo installed i let him keep most of the wiring ( ie power etc).
I would say buy another brand like soundgate, just my opinion. I'm not sure why mine sounded bad but it did...... If you are going to replace speakers then only part of the harness is needed, and that part should work fine.
I am in the process of having one installed with my new Panasonic touch screen. I didnt want to get rid of the Bose yet either. I'll let u know how the sound quality turns out.
