Default C4 Coupe Sub and Alarm Question

Alarm - I have an 86 coupe. I had an aftermarket Prestige alarm installed. I wondered if there is any way to make the stock "security" light work with it. Right now the light flashes when the car is off and the doors are open, but as soon as you close the doors it stops flashing. Is there any way to make it act like athe LED would? i.e. fashing when the alarm is set

Sub - I am going to add an aftermarket head unit and an adapter so that I can use the stock Bose speakers. I want to add some extra bass though. My concern is that I still want to be able to store the top in the hatch area when it is off. Is a bass tube my best option or is it possible to install a 10" or a pair of 10"s in a low profile box that the top would clear? Any pics of a simple bass install in an early C4 would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Default re:sub wooofers

hi, I'm not quite sure if this helps, but I have a 94 vert and my installer, put in two low rise 8" woofers in a box that covers my storage compartment, making that area unuseable. I have a after market radio, so do not require that area .This cover is approx. 2" deep and covered with black carpeting, I suspect that the cones of the speakers are below the existing storage compartment level. This was done to support my huge amp. When I put the roof down, I still have sufficent room for the top, and great sound. If you want, PM me and I'll take some pics. My only complaint is i've lost my jack storage.

Did you read the C4 sticky at the top of the section. It will give you alot of info on sub installation in a couple. No need for a box, just put a 10" in the pass. side storage compartment, and mount the amp to a piece of wood that is glued to the back of the bulk head. You should consider replacing the stock bose speakers as well. Again, read the C4 sticky at the top of the section.

Good Luck

Randy

Default Now We're Getting Somewhere!

Wow! That's a lot of good info. Thanks!

I think I have everything figured out on the sub. I actually found someone who sells custom 10" enclosures for the passenger storage compartment. I sent him an email. Hopefully, that works out.

It also looks like it is possible to mount the amp under the non power passenger seat, which would be absolutely ideal IMO.

One new question though. The FAQ section referenced a flashing SYS light when the stock radio was removed. I looked at the bulletin and it seems to only pertain to 90-93 models. I have an 86 so I assume that I am in the clear. That is correct isn't it? I just want to be sure.

I still don't know about the security light question I have. Does anyone have any info on that?

Thanks again!
