Default Need sub\amp help....

I just ordered my PAC AOEM-VET1 from logjam and need some advice on a sub...I was originally think 10" but have also been considering a 12" to fit into a subthump stealth box...

I am looking for a $150 or so price range and reading JL, JBL, Infinity, Alpine, Fosgate etc...my head is spinning! I would like to push this single with about 300-400 Watts with an amp...opinions welcome on amp as well...something in the $250-$300 range I would expect.

Opinions on a sub\amp?

I am not a rapper- more like Rock and some pop on occasion....I want something to be tight but hit at the same time...must be at the most *6-3/8" mounting depth and in a .93 volume enclosure (taken from subthump for a 12")

Look at the Elemental Design subs. You can go to www.edesignaudio.com to view them. I am currently using one of their 11Kv.2's in my Vette and two of the 11Kv.2's in my truck. They should fit your height and volume constraints.

As for amps with your price range, you could get an Elemental Design amp. I just picked up two Phoenix Gold amps and they are working real well in my truck. I just finished the install last night, so I don't have much time on them yet. But their prices are low (look at www.sonicelectronix.com).

In my Vette, I am powering the ED sub with an older MTX amp that puts out 150W RMS. It hits hard but a bit more power wouldn't hurt anything.

I'm not good at juding whether you should go 10" or 12" for that type of music. My initial judgement thinks 12", but I go 10's with mine because I like it tight.

Dang it...Greg beat me to it.

ED has good prices. They had a huge sale a month ago...I picked up all three of my subs for $65 each.

thank you and Duramax Dave!

I have a question- what would your killer price be on this: 13Kv.2 Subwoofer - that's a 12" right? those part numbers are confusing

How would you rate their amps? I am not trying to blow the hatch off the car but I would like it to be powerful enough to make that sub sound perfect...

Thanks!

a 13kv2 can be had for 75 plus shipping, shipping will be 10-20 dollars. It can handle between 3-500ish watts rms. The 13kv2 which is a 12" matched to a Nine2 would slam nicely in a vette

Yeah...ED does have an odd ball number scheme, but once you know it, you are good to go.

You can usually get discount pricing when buying a sub and amp from them (or speakers and amp). Pentavolvo usually has good discount codes as well.

Thanks! I like the price of the 12" - from the looks of it (construction wise) it seems pretty beefy!

Is there a better place to get a box from other then subthump? or perhaps I should build one myself and save the $$ to up the amp selection...

these guys are directing you in the right direction. Even a single 10" will hit harder than you think. The vette is so tiny and the 10 is a very tight sub. If i would have found out about ed before my purchases, i would have gone that route. For the price, you cant go wrong and their packages match up really well too

Yeah, I must say the 11Kv.2's are beefy and heavy..so I imagine the 13Kv.2 is just that much more.

As for box, the subthump is a good box and is ready to go. But if you don't mind some of your own time, you can build your own box using the plans found on this forum. Granted I am in the midwest so some things are cheaper, but I built my box for $20 in supplies (3/4 mdf, glue and screws). Add some money for paint, carpet, or whatever you choose to cover it with.

Good luck...you will be happy with this system.
