Default Console Mod for Eclipse AVN 5435. Help......

I decided to tackle modding my console. I have read all the posts by members Scott-FX and GB Vette (Excellent help). I still have a few questions.
1 What should I allow space wise for the Heat/AC controls from the bottom of the repositioned bar down. Basically what hieght and space do they require?
2 I am going to be spraying on Sem texture Coating first then the Sem Satin Gloss on top of this. Where can I find these products?
3 If anyone has done this before (and I am hoping you read this) is there anything else I should watch out for.
I am at a bit of a disadvantage as I ordered a new console to mod up before yanking the old stuff (as I want to hang on to the original console and radio in case I ever sell).
Thanks for any help with this! Mark Sixty4...

hey sixty4,

are you going to drop the ac controls all the way down to the bottom? or are you planning on having that half moon shape blank piece at the bottom? If you are going drop it all the way down, then it will fit nicely without modification in the ashtray area. If you are going to have the crecent shaped area under the ac controls then i'd just measure the a'c controls and then make a carboard template of the ac controls and go from there.

if you go to sem's website they'll have local retailers or you can order it online. www.selectproducts.com has them but you usually can beat their prices.

if i were you i'd definately go with the abs sludge method, not the epoxy method. and use m.e.k. not acetone. it sets up faster

Hi Scott_ Fx. I started the project tonight. The unit I have has no face plate cover. That stumped me for a while. I checked your post and noticed you framed in your screen (slick ).GB Vette had a Backing screen. I am going to have to make a box as well. Is that 1/2 round you used? Did it come in ABS? The sludge method seems like the way to go. One more thing, I am going to put in the guage pods in like GB Vette. There goes the compartment and A-tray (no big deal). Going to be putting a KB Supercharger in so I need the Boost/fuel pressure guages. I found the rattle can paint OK. You and GB Vette have some great threads on this stuff. Thanks for the posts and all the tips! The wife thinks I am . OOps forgot two things what is M.E.K? Also who makes the spot glaze?

are you going to install a car pc? if so you always have the option that i used in my latest install and actually fused the lcd case into the radio surround. . I'm not sure about the '1/2 round' you are refering to. could you please explain what you thought was the 1/2 round? also...if you're going with a supercharger, it would be trick if you stealth mounted a digital gauge behind some limo tinted plexi

UPDATE...... Well the console is all glued up. Gauge pods in place, back filled behind them, radio bar repositined. Now for the part that stinks, time to sand the abs slugde method (tried like heck not to make a mess). This is not to bad of a project, just takes a ton of time. I will put up Pics when finished. A very special thanks to SCOTT-FX I think I only asked him a million questions on this! However not done yet. Mark Sixty4....
OOPs almost forgot. GB-Vette, was the inspiration.
