AVIC D2 questions

AVIC D2 questions
I found a place that's selling new D2s for under $900 - is this a good price? Will this unit play DVD movies if the Nav DVD isn't in use? The Pioneer literature leads me to beleive that it won't, but I thought that I read sopmewhere on this forum that it was possible.
