Ok I have an 02 coupe and I am looking to add subs. I am trying to design an amp rack and enclosure for my car. Now I am looking for SQ not SPL. I want it clean and tight. Here are the configs I was thinking about.
1-10in sub
2-10in subs
2-8in subs
Now I am not looking for brands I want to know what setup you would choose.

I would also say two 10's. I have had 1 10", 1 12", and 2 10" subs in my vette and the two 10's sounded the best IMHO. Right now I am using 1 10", but will go to two before long, lol.
If you go with a single 8 or 10, just save yourself the effort and keep the factory system!
I don't know if I would wholeheartedly agree with that. I think there is some benefit with a single 8". I know there is benefit with a single 10" as I have a completely stock Bose system with a single ED 10" added to it.
I have added hit and definition with the sub. Of course, I like to feel my music.
I still believe a double 10" is a great way to go....good output and tight hit. You can always turn it down.
I'll agree with double D. One quality 10, although it depends on your music selection. I have a pair of 8's in my 88 and listen to mostly rock. Their not boomy, but handle the lows just fine for that style of music. Plus they went in the factory rear spkr locations. However, a 10 will give you more low end. Go down to your local car audio shop( not a big chain store) and listen to what they have. Take your own cd. Never demo speakers with their music.

This coming from a guy that will cut his vette up to fit a monster 12" sub in the well??!! Just kidding....
I like 1 high quality, very well built 10" sub that will handle alot of power, and work well in a small sealed enclosure!! I listen to alot of music, and have found I am critical of my music.... but what I like, and what you like, may be 2 different things... of course, you can always go bigger and just turn it down...
I tell ya...it's so hard to keep everyone's systems straight around here. We got single 18's, triple 12's and triple 10's, duals and single of all sizes.
