Default Troubleshooting C5 Bose Left Side Sound

Any suggestions or insight on solution, EXCEPT "REPLACE BOSE SYSTEM", to correct a problem with the left channel of the Bose system in my '01 coupe? There's no bass at all from the left channel, front or rear, and when the balance control is set to left, it all sounds like a cheap transistor radio from the late '50s Right channel is working great.

What I have done so far, is replace the Bose CD HU with the cassette HU from my other C5 (which I changed to aftermarket system, for all you Bose haters - (you know who you are!)). There is no difference -- same problem. I'm pretty sure the head unit is not the issue.

I figure its either the left door speaker/sub-woofie and/or amp, or the signal processor buried in the dash. I would pray its the door speaker assy. rather than the signal processor. What are the suggestions?

(Note: On this C5, I intend to keep everything totally stock. I've done all the modifications on my daily driver C5.)

thats a tough one. but if it's affecting front *and* rear i would say its the signal processor. but thats just and educated guess.

I agree with scott fx if it affets both its gotta be the singal processor unless both are blown. I would swap the rear speakers and see what happens if it still sounds like garbage on the left side I would have to say bose signal processor.

Talking about bose I had the windows up the other nite and the top down it was semi cool out and it actually sounded half way decent for a few seconds.

Thanks for the feedback. Tonight I'll swap the rears to see if there's any change.

On that note, are the left and right door speakers the same; ie - swapable?

Its definitely the signal processor. That's not as difficult to get at as I thought, however, a replacement from dealers (forum sponsors) seems to run approx. $223. That's a little higher than I planned to go to correct the problem -- at least at this time. Guess I'll have to save up for it.
