Looking for a deck that doesn't look like it belongs in a rocketship...

It is a little pricey, but it is cheaper than the McIntosh and has a better pre-amp section.
Pure, clean, no frills and ZERO line noise.
For me, the head unit was the weak link in my system.
I already had the Focal Utopia 6.5's, the 6 channel McIntosh amp and the JL 10"
That Clarion outshines other good units I've shot them out against in my car with all other equipment the same with the exception of the JL sub that replaced the old Cadence.
Had 2 other very good H/U's in a 6 month period in my quest for a great one.
Eclipse with 16v line driver
Alpine 9055 (I think)
The sound has so much more depth and clarity. The reproduction is very colorless compared to the other H/U's.
I'd spend $500 more if I had to, to get the same quality H/U.

if it sounds nearly as good as the old Clarion HXD10, its well worth the price.
im tempted to try to fin dan HXd10 for my c5 install...
im pretty sure the nicer Clarions have Denon guts (or vice versa)

I cannot stand how every deck you see when you walk into circuit city or best buy nowadays looks like it belongs in some futuristic space ship with all the colored neon lights and gaudy faceplates. I want something clean and simple that matches my black interior. I want a single CD in dash, and it must retain the ability to control my factory 12 disc changer. Thanks! -Mike
Check out my system for sale.

DEH-P880PRS
A butt-ton of adjustments, nice clean look, fantastic readable screen, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. With the mp3 feature, you'll soon forget about CD changers. You'll be able to fit around 10 albums on one CD (700mb)

For moderate pricing, if you want solid looks and massive features, the pioneer 880-prs is your deck. I know its going to look good in my C6 when i get mine. Eclipse makes good HUs as well and have always been some what conservative, even though the new ones are getting a little flash. Alpines are nice but have lost a little quality as of late, i have a old alpine which was a solid deck. If you want super expensive, super clean, super plain HU go McIntosh.

Not the highest dollar unit, but I love the way this Blaupunkt looks with my 95's black interior. And it does everything I need it to do.

I just ordered the Pioneer DEH-P880PRS deck for my '74 Convertible. I was very impressed with the features and the clean looks. So many of the newer decks look too "busy" for my tastes.

This is what I was going to get had I kept my Z06. You can match the lights/display to your stock lights perfectly:

My friend has one. It looks stock vs. the Alpine-style ultra-futuristic look.
There's also the Nakamichi CD-400, which looks very stock (and sounds very good):

I am also thinking of going the Pioneer Premier route for the clean lines and simple uncluttered controls. The model I am thinking of getting is the DEH-P580MP because of the many features including 3 sets of preamps with seperate sub control,a small simple remote, and the ability to control a CD changer should I wish to add one.The black and muted gray with red highlights should look great with the red backlit gauges in my C6.The list is only $210,and I am finding them for much less.
