Sorry, no pics but I have a small self powered bazooka tube that sounds great in the car. It won't shake the neighborhood which is good because that's not what i was looking for.
never thought about subs in a vert before... i wonder what u could get in there, those bazooka tubes are usually a 8" sub inside i think
8" sounds right and there is no more room with the top down. the top touches the tube.
Then throw in the Amp for the front speakers and the cargo space is about the size of 2 shoe boxes.

I've got a 10 inch bazooka tube in mine and no problems here !

I had an 8" with the built in amp in mine. http://www.sasbazooka.com/productAutoAmplifiedBTsBT.asp Two of these would also fit perfect. I can currently fit my nitrous bottle and 8" tube but I chose to leave out the tube for now. I may start putting it back in when I upgrade the rest of the sounds system. I have the top down a lot which kills the bass performance. When the top is up it sounds OK. I don't see how a 10" would fit. Do you have pictures? Maybe your model year has more space. The top of the 8" tube touches the convertible top when it's stored away in mine.
I started questioning what size I had if a 10" fits but if the 8" is snug in yours Rickreeves1, mine is an 8" as previously stated.
The outside diameter of the tube could be 10" but the speaker is 8".
I think they make shallow subs to fit behind seats in Pick up trucks. With custom boxes you could likey fit them in a C4 vert as well.
I would be a little concerned about damaging the top when closing the lid. Maybe if it was positioned more toward the front but I still doubt it. My 8" was snug and it had pretty thin walls also. The total size of my tube is 18.325" x 8.5" x 10". The 10" measurement is the air port/hump that only runs along one side. This doesn't effect the height if positioned correctly. The subwoofer itself inside the case is 8". If I remember correctly when I first measured with a tape measure, 8" give or take was all the height clearance that there was in the middle of the storage are. If you are interested the spec sheets for the bazooka models give the sizes. http://www.sasbazooka.com/pdf/current/Tubesmanual01.pdf

Hasn't hurt or damaged my top in the 7 years its been back there. I put a towel over it when putting down the top. The decklid is a little tight to push down on but it works rather well. No problems here.
I have 2 8 inch tubes flanking a big amp. The bass does suck though. Wonder if facing them to the rear would help, or just mount the speakers where the rears used to be. Would free up some cargo space.
I used the stock rear speaker locations in my '90 to house a pair of 8" subs. The stock speaker locations are fiberglas boxes moulded to the back wall of the storage compartment. I mounted the subs to MDF and attached the MDF using the original screw holes.
I was even able to mount the stock speaker grills. But I had to use additional spacer blocks to keep the subs from hitting the grills.

And how did this sound compared to tubes. I was thinking of going this route.
And if you want to improve on this further. I got rid of the carpet grills and recovered them with speaker fabric..so you can hear sound coming through them. I can't understand how they covered these things with thick carpet. Wasn't an easy job but worth it.
