Default Tweeter Mounting Size Feedback Please!!

Hey Guys,

I need to get an idea of the average size needed for mounting cups of commonly used tweeters. The Focal TN47, TN51, TN52, etc all use a fairly large hole, 1.75" or bigger. I initially had the impression that the hole was pretty big, but I was just checking out the mounting dimensions for JL Audio tweeters and their pods are 1.66".

I'm getting ready to cut some more of the C6 mounting plates and I'm trying to figure out if I should change the hole size for the 3.5" plate in the trim panel or just leave it alone. I'm going to do some blanks as well for those that want to do their own thing from scratch as well.

I would REALLY appreciate some info!

Thanks!

I was the first person on here to buy your speaker adaptor plates a few weeks ago. At $50 (shipped) it is the best value ANYWHERE! I've been on this forum for years and the last person to make CNC plates charged $90 plus shipping, but only offered it for the C5 since thats the car he had to take measurements from. He (VRUMVRUM) did offer what ever hole size you needed though and continually sold out. To be honest, 1.75" is very common, but considering what your buying, which is so rare (CNC plates for a low production car), anybody that understands this will buy speakers for their plates, not the other way around. 1.75" also fits Alpine components too. As more C6 are produced and sold your market will go up! This is an item that there is NO SUBSTITUTE if you want a high end competition looking system. Any 16 year old minium wage installer can hack up a speaker plate and use zip ties and to be honest most will never see it once the door panel is put back on, but that does not do any vette justice. I put my system off for 6 months, just waiting for someone to make a CNC plate and would have paid in the hundreds to get one.....so that is why I jumped on it at $50 bucks! I have used CNC'ed plates on my C5 so I knew what I was getting, but you might want to include some detailed pics of the bare plates on here for those who don't understand the added benefits of a clean install. BTW-your full range speaker size also fits CDT components.

Darn, we should have made the price higher.

Thanks for the kind words and the info!

The lower plate I was pretty sure was a good size, the 5.875" opening will accomodate practically any 6.5" driver, it would only be if somebody was looking to use an 8" there or something where it would change.

It seems like that hole size does work out for most tweets so I guess I will leave well enough alone. At 1.8" where the hole is now the clamp from a driver as small as 1.5" would probably grab on no problem and the surround on the cup would cover the hole.

I've posted quite a few pics of the plates and my install in different threads. How 'bout yours installed!!??!!!
