Default Speaker placement question

I have an 89 originally Bose equipped car. I have since removed the Bose and installed 6.5 " speakers in the door with the crossover and tweeters in the dash.

My question is...if I were to place the 6.5's in the dash spots and set up the tweeters on the A pillars (or somewhere else, dunno) how much of a sound compromise would I be looking at?

The reason behind this thinking is replacing my door skins with non-Bose door skins without the speaker holes and grilles. It would be a much cleaner look in my opinion.

So, if I could replace the door skins and move the door speakers to the dash, would it still sound Ok?

I don't think the 6-1/2's will fit in the dash- I think 4" is it.

Good luck!

I'm not afraid of a little fabrication, was just wondering about the overall sound quality. As it seems, it wouldn't sound very well so I think I'll give up on the idea.

I just thought the look of the non Bose doors looked better with no speaker grilles.

Don't ever give up on something without testing.
If you have the dash pad off, place the speakers in the dash location where the tweeters would go, and place around with a couple different mounting points, and listening to the speakers in those positions. As for the tweeters in the a pillar, you can use some temporary mounting adhesive to place the tweeters in the desired location, and aim them the way you are wanting to place them, and see how they sound with the speakers in the dash. This is just my point of view on things...
