So I bought the eD 9KV2s I like them, but got D2s for my current set-up
I am thinking of ditching my Circa 1992 Orion HCCA 225s (2 of them) for either a NINE.4 or two NINE.2s
I assume the NINE.4 would work well for my fronts and my 8s each wires series to its own channel..
The stereo sounds good my vette now but I think it is lacking in power the Orions are rated at 25x2 compared to 65x4 of the NINE.4 and 100x2 of the NINE.2
I don't want to go overboard but want something decent and the pricing on the eDs seems good..
if I switch to eD would I be getting a better amp?
I know I could sell both Orions on eBay to cover the NINE.4 I would think
Thanks I saw your post as well, but I think if i switch it will be to an eD amp.
Pentavolvo,
You say it is underrated, how so? reason I ask is the Orions were claimed to be underrated as well. but with the Orions, you needed lower impedance to get all the power from them.
Considering they are old school amps (Orion) I am definately thinkign of stepping up to some thing newer, especially if I can sell both Orions and buy newer amps
If i recall they are us made but i could be wrong, 3 year warranty also. Pretty much they are rated at 12 volts where as everyone else rates at 14 and even at 12 volts its conservative. People have had these amps bench tested and they put out a good amount of power more then they are rated for. Expect

Hmm sounds good.. I may just do that and sell one of my Orion HCCAs..
and hang on to the other one for a bit or I might just sell them both
I am leaning very heavy on Selling the Orions.. BUT.. if I sell them I am thinkign of the NINE.4 for my fronts and the NINE.2 for the 8s..
(leaves room to grow ) Only thing I cannot find is how the master/slave works with eD and if I can do a Band pass fileter on a pair of channels..
Example
2 channels of the NINE.4 will be 300hz and up
2 channels will be 80-300hz
the NINE.2 will be 80hz down
Crazy world Jeff I was in bartlett this afternoon and was lookin for ur vette
Where in Bartlett were you?? I tookt he vette out around 6:30pm. I was at O'Hare earlier dropping my Parents off for their trip..
So What do you think of my tenative amp choices??? I will use the Nine.2 in the 2 channel config as I have the 9KV Dual 2 ohm woofers. then the Nine.4 will be for the fronts. since I aready have 2 amps in the car the power is aleready there
Did you plan on briding the nine4 on the fronts or just leaving 2 channels dead.
2 channels fo the NINE.4 will run my 4" and tweets. The other 2 will run my 5.25" ( all these are in front)
2 channels of the NINE.4 will be 300hz and up (4s and Tweets)
2 channels will be 80-300hz (5.25")
I like the sound of my current front stage (with exception of Tweeter location) Of I end up switching to 2 ways then I will bridge the amp, but this makes it a bit more flexible.. HEck I could probably do 2 NINE.4s instead of the second NINE.2
Like I said the thing running against me is the Dual 2 ohm woofers.. which is okay, I will work with what I have then maybe later try somthing else.. I though of the Nine.4 for more flexibility
