price is higher than I would have liked. I was under the impression that this would be a cheaper solution. $320 just for the box. It is a good looking box by the way. But I got my JL audio one came pre-loaded with a JL 10w3v2. With an average price of $200 for the sub, add $320 and you have a total price of $520. (not including shipped and tax)
The average price for the JL box loaded with 10w3v2 sub is about $480.
I got mine for $460 total.
I would be more interested if you guys can come up with a dual sub box that goes across the entire rear like this style. With a nice flat area in the middle so that an amp or two can be mounted. Keeping the top storage, of course.

I see that it can only take a 5" (mounting depth) sub and that's not even close to the JL's 10w3v2. Is there any sub that is better than JL's and still fit in this box?

Actually, the JL depth is 5.75", only 3/4" more... several subs are 5" or less in depth. Memphis Car Audio, Directed, Audiobahn, just off the top of my head.
Dave, how will the amp rack tie into the sub enclosure,or will the design be a little different if it ordered that way? What about as a unit that also would allow for a sub on the other side as well if desired and the amp rack in the middle? It appears on the prototype that the edges are pretty rounded, though very beautifully made.

From your experience, which memphis, directed, and audiobahn subwoofers sound as good or better than the JL 10w3? Are these equal or better build quailty than JL? Thanks
I will agree that I think JL charges way too much for the box and sub combo for the C6, but I have never seen it for $600. I got mine from an authorized JL audio dealer here local. Not online. I don't even think JL audio has any authorized online dealers. The retail price at the store I bought it from was $500 + tax. And they gave it to me for $460 out the door.
The only advantage I see right now with going with your box is that you get to use what ever sub you want. I tried to get the sub without the sub since I know I probably wouldn't be happy with the JL 10w3v2, and I was right. It is decent for what it is, but I plan on swapping it out with an IDQ 10.
I am actually more interested in a passenger side. Do you think one would be available in the future?
The passenger box is in work as we speak. It might look funny with 2 different boxes though. Pretty sure a slight dicount will be given to order Left and right at the same time.
Well, if I get a passenger one, i will get the driver one too so they match. I will just sell my JL one at that time.
Why take up valuable storage space in your hatch or overwhelm the audio with lowrider-like thumping bass? You need clean defined (tight)subwoofer effect. As I said before, I can't imagine having more low frequency effect that the unit I designed puts out. See:
"DIY SUBWOOFER" in this forum for details.
I hope you're not referring to me since I have nothing for sale and am only sharing my experience.
