Might be a good candidate for a Home Theatre sub box. I'd say keep it.
18 inchers make great home subs
VinceC5,
How could you forget you had one of those RFs? When I was stationed at Tinker AFB some guy had 4 of them in a Camaro. He gave up his back seat to get enough air space for all 4. I can't remember what amps he used but it's hard to forget the 4 18's.
Yes, it is big enough. 1.75 cubes each. I built the box extremely well so the walls would not viberate....I did not succeed :o Every side has at least 1" of MDF (two 1/2 sheets glued and screwed together and seams overlying) with 3/4" oak plywood over that. Chit, I must of used an entire box of screws and a whole bottle of glue (after I huffed some ) The legs and trim are made from solid oak. I'm using a Crown K2 to power them each with 900 watts rms After all that, I still can't
put your beer on it.
because that sucker will fly off the enclosure That sux cause I really like a beer after the huffing
That RF will need an enclosure at least as big as mine. That sub might be worth some bucks on eBay if you want to sell it. I bet there isn't many left since the cone was paper (if I remember right, I'm still high on beer and fumes)
KnewBlew...I gotta say that is one of the slickest ways to mount some subs for home theater. I might have to do that someday. Nice choice with the Crown K2 power.

The RF 18" is a great classic but you are right, it cannot compete with the 12W7. The 12W7 will handle more power and needs a box that is probably a third the size needed for the 18
Here is the cabinet that I built for my home set-up. I have a wrap around leather couch and I use the 18"er's box as a coffee table. You just can't put coffee or anything else on it because it will not stay on top for long It took me awhile to build the entertainment center. I built the center drawers with partitions inside to hold my CDs. The other two cabinets have slide out drawers for the Nintendo and DVDs. The upper two cabinets have shelves that are fully adjustable. Most of the cabinet's wood is solid red oak. I like the natural look so I just used sand sealer and many coats of varnish. Notice the Crown K2s on top. That's right, someday the second K2 will come alive. I just need to run another dedicated power line and build another subwoofer cabinet
I have imagined doing a home theater in my house someday. I'd like to use a projector to display on a wall. Under the screen, mount the subs in cabinets flush with the front of the wall. Put the front speakers on either side of the screen (flush in the wall) and appropriate surround speakers as well.
Then the amp rack....built flush into the wall. Use multiple amps and top off with a dBx Driverack 480. I'd like the home theater to look like the Live Audio stuff I do.
My current amp rack for my live setup is QSC RMX 2450 (3 of 'em) plus a RMX 850. These are used to (2) power double 18" subs and (2) double 12's + 2" horn tops.
