sounds like ur looking to power something and make it move... my recomendation is pick up some used power seat rails from a car try a junkyard etc... weve done it before
Scott, motor size depends on what your trying to move with it. I would say some type of gear reduction or low rpm motor to lessen the drag on the motor. As far as a coupler you could gring a flat spot on one side so it's D shaped like most motor shafts and use a set screw. Graingers should have everything you need.
and how do i hook it up? I'm hoping to keep costs down so if powering this thing is too much i may end up scrapping it and going with option b
thanks
Probably some sort of worm drive (screw) motor... This should be a smooth quiet movement, with smooth transitions... I personally have some cool actuators...
