I have decided to go with Polk audio for the front of my C4 and I'm planning to use 5 1/4 components. What exactly is the difference between the db5250 and the MMC5250 (besides nearly $100)?
The specs look very similar except for the woofer material and surround. I think they even have the same tweeter (?). I have listened to the db's at a local shop and I really liked them, but no one has the MMCs. I know this is really subjective, but are the MMCs "worth" the extra $100?
I have those DB's I just bought and installed last month in my Prelude. Just make sure you have a sub and you won't need to worry about the extra strength in the woofer material since you won't be running much bass to them. If you don't have a sub make sure your rears have some good 6x9's in them that can handle the bass.
I can make my Vette rattle with just my 6x9's, the fronts add a good mid range and high sound to complete the experience.
Those Polk's sound a bit "hissy" with the highs, so they will take some tweaking with your head unit's EQ settings to get it sounding just right. They sound great though!
Ok the momo is a deeper speaer which for some is a nono, like myself. Many guys at work run the momos and honestly they arent much nicer then the db's. Unless you plan on goin full out SQ competition yaya 150wrms per speaker save the money and get the DBs. I absolutely love them and recommend them to anyone
I wish I had bought a 2nd pair of the db's for my Vette. They were running a Buy one Get one 1/2 off sale when I bought mine, and they were on sale on top of that too
Thanks for the info, guys. Sorry for leaving this thread hanging, but I posted on my last day before being out of town for 5 and work SUCKED so bad that last day I never got a chance to check my thread.
While in Las Vegas, I tracked down the Tweeter shop and listened to some more speakers. While I liked the sound of the Focals they had, I still couldn't do a direct compare between them and either of the Polks. Knowing that I liked the Polks I heard before (dbs) and based on your comments, I went ahead and ordered a pair of the db5250s from an eBay seller for about $130 delivered. I hope they'll be here by the weekend...if not, I still have a LOT to do with the HU, amp and rear speaker installs anyway.
