for those of you who've installed custom sound systems with amps in a C5, how long of a power wire (from battery to amp) did you end up needing and where did you route the wire? )I'm planning on having my amps in the cargo area)
I'd say in my Coupe, with the amp behind the passenger seat, I used about 7 maybe 8 feet. To go to the rear of the carge/hatch area I'd add at least another 6-7 foot.
mexaknpwr: do you have pics of your setup? and i'm curious where you found the 2 ga wire, i've been looking all over for it and can't seem to find any.
yea ill take pics, ive been meaning too, its not too pretty underneath the center storage in the rear but its coo cuz my sub amp isnt my final one and hell no one can see it , i didnt drill anything into the car, i used epoxy and glued wood boards beneath the carpet and then screwed the amps.
for wires, you just get beat the quality and price of knukonceptz.com, their service is top notch, ive been ordering wires from them for over 3 yrs. they make this nice flat 2 guage wire which runs great in carpet. another tip, for the top power connection on my battery, i used a car battery cable connector from autozone for 3.xx. gold tipped is available but its kinda overkill unless you live in the desert or another area prone to the harsh elements or just didnt want to lube up your connections with petroleum jelly.
I'm getting most of my wiring stuff from Knukoncepts as well as the battery terminals and distribution blocks. i don't believe they sell 2 gauge wire anymore. However their "Kolossus" series 4 gauge wire is rated at 120 amps (enough to support a 1400W sound system) so i think i'll go with that instead of the 2 gauge wire.

great place to get wire. nothing but good things to say about em. Check between their 2 stores. one is an ebay store and see which one you can get a better deal one.
I just did a quick measurment for mine and came up with about 13' from batt to rear center of back wall and about 8' from seat bolt to same for ground. A good place to get good cable is at your local welding shop. Welding cable is also fine strand and they have various sizes and lugs for the ends.
true true, i used welding cable and industrial cable for homes on my first installation way back in 1996 and i could have sworn it did the same job as my 0 guage but i did not test the voltage. my lights did not dim tho, but it was only aroun 700 wrms total output.

I just finished installing the 2 guage. I decided to run the main runs to the pass side under the hatch and mount my dist blocks upside down on that black plastic. I ended up using 51/2' to the seat bolt and 11' to the top of the batt box. I didn't go through the existing grommet, it was easier to drill a hole(next to it) and get a 25 cent grommet from ace.
