Default Infinity AMP = WOW!!!

I have been playing around with audio in my C5 for several months now. Much thanks to many forum members for documenting their trials and errors, I have one to add.

Started with Blaupunkt PCA2120 120W x 2 Car Amplifier, Sony CDX-GT400 CD Receiver, Infinity Reference 6010cs 6-1/2"/6-3/4" 2-way Component System up front, Blaupunkt PCA1300 300W x 1 Car Amplifier , Alpine Type-S SWS-1042D 10" Dual 4-ohm Component Sub, system is fine and a great improvment over stock. but just could not hear audio with top down.

I wanted to upgrade to a 4 channel system and first tried a Visonik Visonik V418XT 125W x 4 Car Amp. Not sure if this amp is bad or just a POC. Replaced with an Infinity Reference 7541a 111W RMS x 4 Car Amplifier . Good gracious, get out the Lock Tite! THis ones rocks.

I also added two Infinity Reference 9613i 6"x9" 3-way Speakers
and put them kinda behind the seats in some cheap Walmart enclosures. Good gracious at the difference in sound. You can actually hear the dang music!

I do not understand how AMP mfgrs. rate their equipment but most of it is just lies. The Infinity Amp I believe is true to it's rating of 111 Watts.

Hope this helps someone. Don't buy the cheap stuff, like I did.

yup, POC

Someone told me Infinity amps came off the same lines as the JBL amps and then someone said they don't. I'm glad you like your new system

I know the new JBL subs and new infinity subs are made by the same Co., or at least they are identical in structure with a different logo on the cone. I have heard pretty good reviews on the infinity amps and on the new JBL amps. Most people seem to be satisfied with them. on the Visonik stuff that it is a POC.

I worked at Best Buy as an installer until recently and I never got to install one of the new Infinity amps but I heard good things about them. I had an Infnity Kappa 202a 2-channel several years ago and I can't say anything bad about it. I ran it at 2 ohms and it was rated for 4 ohms and it only hit thermal cutoff once in about two years. It pushed 2 Kappa Perfect 12s like a champ.

Are those two separate cheap Wal Mart enclosures or one long one? I like the speaker placement... Just relocating the speakers to that position would make a tremendous difference in sound, especially with the top down. You're giving me ideas...
