Latest Radar Detector Test Results
As an owner of both an Escort 8500 (non X50) and a Valentine 1, the results were quite interesting to me.
For those contemplating a radar detector, this link should come in handy.

No POP dectecton on any of them? Did I read this right?
These are the results from an earlier POP test.

The most recent POP test was done from 1190 feet away and over a hill.
The older test was done from 500-1786 feet away on a straight road I believe.
"The same test course that we used for our laser tests was used for POP testing. We measured out distances of 500 Feet, 1000 Feet, 1500 Feet, and 1786 feet and marked these with cones (The odd number of 1786 feet was used because that was a convenient spot on the course where the test vehicle would not block any driveways of businesses). All detectors had line of sight with the radar."
Here is another POP radar test done by a different radar detector testing site but they only tested POP radar from 500 feet away.
http://speedzones.com/pop_mode.html
"In our POP test, test vehicles containing the radar detectors started at a cone placed 1,000 feet from the POP guns and drove at approximately 30 mph. As they approached the 500 foot cone they counted down, “three, two, one” at the cone and the police officer fired the POP mode in the MPH Z-25 K band gun and the MPH Bee III Ka band, 33.8 GHz, radar gun."

Ordered mine a little over a month ago and wish I could get rid of my Escort towards another one.The V1 does everything my Escort Passport does and then some.
that's about the order (the order they found in the test) that i'd place them, also.
i'm underwhelmed by the 8500 so i wasn't motivated to buy the x50 when i needed the 3rd detector. the solo2 was just an experiment and it's surprisingly good and bad --okay for radar but major suckage for lidar.
V1 took its place the next week.
to pull over to accept my ticket.

(The above wasn't the Valentine.)
It's been said hundreds of times here, but the arrows really ARE VERY
helpful in telling you whether the cop is in front, beside or behind you.
That's always of interest to know. And, also - as has been said often -
once you use a detector with arrows, you'll never have anything else.
On my C6, I have it "mirror mounted" which looks and works great. Good
reception, easy to reach and read. Also, electric to the mirror turns off
when you shut the engine off. Not so with the Cig lighter. I bought the
mirror mount kit from a forum vendor. (Side question: anyone know if
there is a mirror mount kit for a Caddy DTS?)
Radar detectors are ALWAYS of high interest. I hope you all will keep
updating us on the latest.
