Has anyone had experience in installing a GM OEM Nav in a 2006 C6 Corvette? I currently have the 6 disc changer and the Bose speakers.
No experience personally, but there have been quite a few threads here asking about it. None that I recall (bad memory though!) where someone actually did it. Having the Bose helps as the NAV is designed to work with the Bose, but you would need to install the GPS antenna.
Unless someone hands you a GM unit for nothing then I would seriously consider an aftermarket unit. For the same money you get many more features and flexibility that the GM unit doesn't give. The ONLY thing that the OEM gives you that an aftermarket cannot is HUD integration, and I don't know if getting the HUD integration to work with the OEM unit after the fact is doable either. Probably, but don't know for sure.
Thanks for the information. I would prefer to keep the car looking stock.
There's a thread or 2 posted in the FAQ with aftermarket NAV installs and they look very stock, take a look. No need to cut the dash, etc. The opening is double DIN and it's a very clean install.
I have the same problem that mrdragon4 has - same car, same options. I could kick myself in the butt for skimping on the navigation system which I now realize I'd really like (I have it in another car I just inherited)!
I'm really replying to thank thecomoman for the straight-forward, cogent answers. This type of intelligent comment seem fairly rare but are very much appreciated.
How do I get to the aftermarket threads. Also, I understand that some aftermarket navigation systems give you iPod connectivity - do you know anything about that?

Hey Terry, I know more than a few people who might question my ability to produce cogent commentary, but I appreciate the kind words.
Here's the info to which I was referring:
The FAQ thread (sticked at the top of this section)
The installs are do-able as a DIY, but as you'll see it's not for the faint of heart and certainly not for a beginner.
As far as iPod integration goes, the Pioneer has an optional (approx $50) iPod control box and I assume the Eclipse does as well. You can control the iPod through the unit itself. That's the kind of option to which I was referring in my previous post.
