Default FM Modulator or Cassette Adapter

Is the quality of sound between these two that much different? I'm currently using the cassette adapter and the constant running of the motor is annoying unless I crank it up.

I use the cassette adapter and don't even notice if the motor is running. I run the ipod at 3/4 volume and adjust from there with the h/u. I've used the modulator, imo it's junk, but the cassette adapter at 3/4 volume makes the speakers actually sound decent til my install is done.

Wow, I'm impressed. It appears you and I have the only two corvettes with cassette players...

The cassette adapter is the better of the two. If your cassette is making too much noise, it is likely the adapter you have. Try a new one, they aren't that expensive. Or, bite the bullet on an IPAC like this one...

Thanks Speed but it appears this won't work with my '96.

Do you have a factory CD changer?

I can't find an exact adapter for your application, but you might go here...

http://www.autotoys.com/x/cust/home.php?cat=31

and email them with your year/make/model. They have more solutions than any I know (sorry, not saying much).

Sorry I wasn't more help, good luck. You may be back to another cassette adapter.

Almost all FM modulators I have seen throughout the years sound like crap. Before I put a CD player in my rover, I used a MP3 player and a tape adapter and it sounded better than listening to the radio.

i agree, every fm modulator or whatever its called has sounded like crap. my previous car had both the cd and the cassette player. Dont ask me why infiniti had put in a cd changer in the dash with a cassette player(maybe becuase old people still listen to tape ) But the cassette player sounded WAY better than the fm ever did.

Both my '88 Vette and '88 IROC have the Bose cassette/FM setup so I just picked up a cheap MP3 player & cassette adapter on e-bay.

I should know how it sounds by next week.
