Default Bose Craps Out

I've got a Bose system in my 91, in which the CD player hasn't worked for quite a while. Recently, having an issue with the radio as well. Plays well for a bit, then static. Thought I could deal with no music in the car, but its actually painful to drive w/o tunes.

I really want to keep the stock look, and thats the only reason I haven't replaced the stereo up till now (well that and $$$). Never really been happy with the sound from that system (doesn't go nearly loud enough, and not clean sounding) and think it might be time for an upgrade.

Thought something with a 6-7" screen might blend nicely in its place. Anyone have recommendations? Anyone know of a reputable (and reasonable) installer on Long Island? What kind of an outlay am I looking at for a decent system installed?

It's going to be very expensive if you want a 6-7 inch video head unit and speakers installed since C4 stereo upgrades are mostly custom installs.

Here's a link to in dash LCD monitor head units. http://www.cardomain.com/shop/list.p...tors&x=66&y=15

As you can see, the price range is from $299-$1799. Add in the cost of speakers, amp?, wires, cables and installation and you can see how the total cost can reach over $2000.

If you can do the install yourself, you will save a lot of money.
