Default Help hooking up Sirius

I want to be able to plug in my sirius starmate since the fm modulator quality is crap.

I have looked and I have a copy of the .pdf document where it says to cut the cd changer cable but I am confused and could use some help.

I have the stock cd player and a 6 disk in the back that is not used so I have the cable. I would like to have a 1/8" head phone plug coming from the back to plug straight in to my at or mp3. Any one?

Thanks

Looks like you have a trip to Radio Shack ahead of you for a couple of relays, a switch and some sort of stereo cable (your choice as to whether you want 1/8" stereo male or female depending on how you want to wire it). You'll have to cut that cable and follow the wiring diagram, the toggle switch you install will trip the relay to go back & forth between the CD change and the 1/8" stereo cable.

If that diagram doesn't make sense to you then you may want to print it and take it to a car stereo installation shop and have them do it for you. It's pretty basic wiring but it can be intimidating the first time around.

If I do not want to use the changer do I still need to install the switch? I plan on using my MP3, Sat, and in dash CD not the changer.

Thanks

From what I saw in the C5 FAQ (I have C3 & C6) if you are not worried about continuing to use the CD changer then you can use a harness instead. I think that PIE (www.pie.net) makes a generic cable to which you have to add a Vette-specific adapter. Lots of folks sell the PIE stuff, I've bought their stuff from myradiostore.com. PIE has an application guide on their site that shows you the compatibility and what you need.

i can whip up a much simpiler diagram if you want eliminating the switch and relay but you wont be able to use the cd changer, and the cd changer must remain installed for this mod to work
