Hi Audio pros!
The stock 12 disc changer in my 2000 C5 stops working occasionally. I can hear it cycling then I get an "err" message. I slide the door open but the magazine does not eject. It will cycle three times then quit. The odd thing is: if I take out the six screws that hold the unit to the bracket and pull the unit out it will start working!!?? Weird.
Any ideas? Also, I noticed a reset button on the front. What is that for exactly? I pressed it and nothing happened.
I'm going to bump this, because I have the same problem. Haven't tried the six screws solution.
Any advice on where to get a decent repair? Or replacement? I want to stay factory stock.
Thanks.
I'm puzzled by that fact that everytime I got to loosing the screws on the bracket this thing starts working!
I'm thinking about just making the change to mP3 instead or replacing mine.
The stock replacement is around $500 in the catalogs. I have seen them on eBay.
If the changer gets bounced around too much there is a pin (tab A) that can come out of it's proper position (slot B). Check out the pic below. You'll have to take all of the panels off of the changer to get at it, but if it ain't working now, how much harm can you do.
