So, after much debate and back and forth I finally had the following system installed in my 2004 Z06:
Headunit - Pioneer DEH-P9800BT with iPod adapter and Sirius Radio Tuner
Amps - RF P8002 / RF P8004
Speakers - JL XR653-CSi 3-way components
Sub - JL 10W6v2 in a slightly modified Pro Rocks box
I absolutely love the headunit and its interface - job well done Pioneer. The system is very balanced and gives great clear crisp sound. I am in South Florida and had the install done by Sonny at Senior Stereo in Pembroke Pines - top notch installer and if anyone wants his personal contact infor for an install email me. I used VRUMVRUM's headunit and door speaker mounts.
looks great. never seen the amps mounted like that in a c5. very nice.
how does it all sound?
The sound is very good - sounds very balanced. The 3 way components are the way to go - unreal sound. I had to replace the sub amp so I had just the 3 ways for about a week with no sub, they gave great crisp sound. With the sub no hooked up the sound is very good, I am very happy with the system.
Looks good. I like the small finishing touches- the matching trim ring on the sub, the red power cable, the symmetry and matching amps. I do like the sound of those JL653's as well.
I had a foam partition, now the amp rack acts as a partition. How the amps are mounted does take some room away from behind the seats, but the look is very clean and professional.
The accents really do make the difference between a good install and a great install. Those accents were all ideas by the installer that really make the job - the installer had a vision to make it all flow - including the trim on the sub. I have the red/black interior so it really makes the car flow from front to rear.
MANNN!!! i am very impressed... How much did the box run you.....? interested in maybe have him build me a box.... and i love that head unit to man.... very clean install..
Nice! I just put the same H/U in mine. Did you use the auto ta and eq. I set mine up with my latop and that rta software Kale suggested then used the auto ta/eq and found the H/U did a better job. Probably because Pioneer supplied mic was better than the one I used with the rta. That H/U is awsome. Nice job, adown
My mistake, I just noticed he said 9800, I have a 980. Sorry for the confusion. I have a Sure pro audio mic( sl56,57 & 110a I think), but couldn't find my adapters. I am going to though. But the built in stuff is pretty good. I'll have to meet up with you one day Kale.
